Background: Hormonal studies have detected subtle abnormalities of the hypothalamic–pituitary–adrenal (HPA) axis due to autonomous cortisol secretion, in a percentage of patients with adrenal incidentalomas, a condition termed as subclinical Cushing’s syndrome.
